Best French Onion Dip Substitutions & Additions

  • SAUTEED ONIONS: This dip has a great onion flavor that is not overpowering, however if you prefer a really strong French Onion dip then you can double the amount of sauteed onions and follow the rest of the recipe as is. Just remember your cooking time may increase due to the extra onions. The same goes if you want a more mild onion flavor, just reduce your onions to a ½ cup.
  • MAYO: I made this dip using standard mayo. Feel free to use your preferred mayo of choice. You could even use homemade mayo if you’d like.
  • SOUR CREAM: I used full fat sour cream. You could use low-fat sour cream instead. Just remember that the flavors and texture may vary if you do choose to substitute this.
