Penalties costly in Edmonton Eagles loss at Hinton

Still on the hunt for the franchise’ first victory, Edmonton Eagles hit the road on Friday to face the Hinton Timberwolves. After a penalty-filed game the host Timberwolves came out on top winning 8-4.

Playing their home opener Hinton took advantage of their home crowd early scoring just :32 into the game. It wouldn’t last for long though as Tyrell Shott tied the game at 12:43 with a powerplay goal. Shayle Ducharme and Milan Constant assisted on the play. Less than two minutes later the Eagles took the lead on a goal scored by Dawson Iverson-Houle with helpers from Ethan Many Bears and Reece McDonald.

From then on penalties played a major part of the game. Hinton would tie it 2-2 on a powerplay goal, their first of four on the evening before a Shayle Ducharme PP tally gave the visitors the lead back. Raf Lambert-Dodginghorse and Tyrell Shott assisted on the Eagles goal which made it 3-2. Undeterred, Hinton would even the game once again before intermission on a shorthanded goal.

Despite outshooting the Timberwolves in the second Hinton would score five times in the period to claim a 8-3 advantage. Three of the goals came on the powerplay, another shorthanded.

Edmonton would continue to compete in the final frame and were rewarded at 9:09 with a PP goal scored by Tyrell Shott. Ethan Many Bears and Dawson Iverson-Houle each assisted on the play for their second point of the evening.

Shot totals in the end were 49-37 in favor of the Eagles who are back at Enoch Community Centre this Sunday night hosting the Vegreville Vipers. Game time scheduled for 8:00 PM.
