Poehling scored a goal on one shot and delivered one hit over 12:35 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to Detroit.

Poehling, who was called up from AHL Laval earlier this week, served as the fourth-line center for a second straight game and was given four more minutes of TOI. His Laval line got Montreal on the scoreboard early in the first period. Fellow callup Michael Pezzetta carried the puck into the Red Wings' zone, spun around and fed Poehling, who used Marc Staal as a screen to fire a shot past Alex Nedeljkovic. It was his first NHL goal since Jan. 13, 2020. A first-round draft pick in 2017, Poehling has looked good in first two games while winning seven of 11 faceoffs.
