In the final match of the opening round of the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers with two countries battling it out to see who gets a bye into the World Cup, and who has to go to the second round to make it to Qatar, as Sweden and Spain in this Group B showdown.
Spain and Sweden are the two duking it out for the top spot in the group, with the Swedes hanging on by a slim margin. They come into Sunday with a 5-1-0 record, just coming off a match with Georgia. Their 15 points stands them two clear of Spain, who are 4-1-1 after their match this past Thursday with Greece.

As winners in five of their seven matches, Sweden’s lone mark came via loss to the Greeks early in September. Outside of that, they have played solid football led by the legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexander Isak, who leads the squad with four goals in the round robin.
Spain too has had their troubles with Greece, drawing 1-1 back in March. However, the Spains are in good standing, needing Ferran Torres and Jordi Alba to step up if they want to punch their ticket to the World Cup.
This will be the second time these two teams have met in the qualifying stage, with Sweden winning the first encounter 2-1 back in September. Sunday will also be only the 17th meeting between the two countries, with the majority of their matches coming during the UEFA Euros. Spain holds a slight edge over the pesky Swedes, going 6-4-6 against them dating back to their first meeting back during the 1950 World Cup.
