The Journey Continues: Letting the Holy Spirit guide you through life

Sunday, November 14, 2021

My journey compels me to share the following story:

A local church called Tony Garza and me with a task– the family of a recently deceased member desired to donate to the church an unlimited selection of the deceased’s household possessions, which were located in his country home.

There were no restriction on what could be taken. We took a 20-foot trailer, and a paid laborer to assist with the loading.

After three hours of hard work, we tied down the cargo, feeling good about the great quality of “good stuff” we had loaded. We closed the wire fence gate behind us and drove out to the county road.

But a silence overwhelmed me, and I experienced a compelling moment.

When I turned to look at Tony, he had tears in his eyes, and I did too.

The Holy Spirit had impressed on both of us the same thought – “Return it; take it back.”

We obeyed and unloaded the entire trailer, putting every item back in the dwelling. Why did we do that? It was not a reasonable action.

With God as my father, Jesus as my savior, and Holy Spirit as my guide, I try to follow the spirit every day.

I give the above example because it was unexpected, but it happened to me.

The pace of life can keep us caught up in the things of this world, but as followers of Jesus, and readers of scripture, we know there is also a spirit world.

Jesus said in Acts 1:8 “… but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all

Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.”
