Elden Ring Network Test PS4 vs. PS5 Comparison: Still An Enjoyable Experience
Elden Ring has received a closed network test that is available on all platforms. Can you still enjoy this new From Software game on last-gen consoles?
The Closed Network Test provides the players a fairly large glimpse of the game and teases what to expect from it. There are hours of gameplay content in this network test with plenty of boss fights making it a good stress point to determine how well the game runs on the PS4 and PS4 Pro.
We have already covered the PS5 vs. Xbox Series comparison where the game is revealed to run at 4K resolution and with an unlocked frame rate, so what about the PS4 and PS4 Pro?
Just like the Xbox Series S, the game runs at an unlocked frame rate on the PS4. The resolution is roughly 1800p and it could be a dynamic resolution which means this figure is not consistent. The game runs at 1080p at 30 FPS on the PS4, or just like any previous From Software games. If you have played them on your PS4, you will be perfectly fine with Elden Ring as well.
Visually, you won’t find any massive difference here. It seems that we might see a bigger gap once ray-tracing is released for the PS5, PC, and Xbox Series in a patch. As it stands, the difference between the last and current-generation consoles mainly boils down to the resolution and minor visual bumps like draw distances, shadow quality, and so on.
Elden Ring was originally set to launch in January but it was delayed to February 25, 2022. The game will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
