The Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards find themselves sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference after Saturday night. A familiar face around town in the form of Spencer Dinwiddie is averaging 15.4 PPG, 5.7 APG and 5 RPG for the Wizards and he has played a key role to his team’s early success.
In an interview with Bally Sports’ Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the former Net stopped by to promote Calaxy and reflect on his experiences in Brooklyn. On Calaxy, creators and entertainers within communities can increase fan engagement while also making significant sales.
When touching on his time on the Nets, Dinwiddie told Scoop B that it was indeed growth that allowed him to reach this stage in his career.
“That’s really where my career started. My two years in Detroit (Pistons), I learned a lot about the NBA and being a professional, but I didn’t get a chance to grow as a player and play much — I’m super grateful, I root for those guys every time they’re playing, anybody that’s not the Wizards. I pay my respects to the talent that they’ve collected. My friend Joe (Harris) is still there, I hope for the best for them.”
Last season, the Wizards guard’s season came to a devastating end at the early stages of the campaign. This was because of an ACL injury. This wasn’t anything that the former Colorado Buffalo was not capable of handling though.
“It was tough,” said Dinwiddie. ”Anytime somebody tears their ACL it’s tough, but I went through it once seven years prior when I was in college. I just had a completely different amount of resources so it was about honoring the process. You put all the resources in place, they tell you what to do, their experts in the field, they’re going to set you up to have a historic type of recovery and I feel like I did that. And now we’re here.”
With the Nets and the Wizards looking down on their Eastern Conference foes, there is still no sign of Kyrie Irving returning with the team. Of course, it’s because he is unvaccinated. The former Net guard made sure to chime in on what he thinks about the whole situation.
“Everybody has their own decision to make and it’s not on me to make that decision for him. I believe that in any form, fashion or life so you know, he has to do what’s best for him and I’m not the man to judge at all.”
