A car went out of control traveling east on Whitaker and slammed into a parked truck forcing it into a home.

One person was hurt when the car he was driving went out of control when he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake pedal when heading eastbound on Whitaker Street at the College Street intersection.

Salem Police say 75-year-old Gary Coatney of Rough Lane in Salem lost control, ran into a yard near the intersection, and then hit the pickup truck parked in front of the home of Mason McMeen.  The impact pushed the pickup into McMeen’s house causing significant damage to the area around the front door.

Coatney received minor facial injuries and was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.  A passenger, 46-year-old Jason Pauley of Salem, was not hurt.

McMeen was sleeping at the time his truck was pushed into his home.  He was not injured.

The crash occurred at 12:32 Friday afternoon.

A home near the corner of College and Whitaker received damage near the front door when a truck was shoved into the house by an out-of-control car.
