Jon Gruden “The Kind of Enemy the League Probably Doesn’t Want”

The NFL couldn’t have been blindsided by the news of Jon Gruden’s lawsuit. The lawsuit was expected and many believe Gruden has a strong case against the league for the timing and manner in which his decade-old emails were leaked to the media.

It is widely believed that the Gruden email leak was essentially a “hit job” by the NFL and if that can be proven (which may be difficult), the NFL will be writing a sizable check to the Gruden estate.

However, there is a lot more at stake for the NFL than a settlement. They can afford to write an 8-digit check, but Gruden might be going after a lot more than money.

He might be going after people.

Albert Breer on Twitter: “Jon Gruden’s got deep pockets, is 58 years old and is likely done as an NFL coach either way. The kind of enemy that the league probably doesn’t want. Especially if this is more about settling a score than getting paid. / Twitter”

For what it’s worth, the NFL responded in predictable fashion to Gruden’s lawsuit.

“The allegations are entirely meritless and the NFL will vigorously defend against these claims,” the NFL’s statement read on Friday.

But how long will the league flex it’s muscles if a mud-slinging contest breaks out that reveals too much about the NFL’s inner workings?

Tim Kephart on Twitter: “Interesting thing about the Gruden lawsuit is if his lawyer can get it to the discovery phase, the NFL might finally have to cough up the emails from the Washington Football Team “investigation.” That makes for quite a dynamic in thinking about settling. / Twitter”

Now that we’re tossing around private emails and texts, what are the chances that Goodell has a few skeletons in his own closet?

Gruden has been working in NFL circles for most of his life. He has more than 30 years of league connections – some of whom may share his disdain for the powers that be in the NFL.

Emails, texts, videos, screenshots… you name it. Somebody’s got something and a financial settlement might not be enough to make Gruden go away.

  1. Gruden is guilty and is wasting his time.
Derek carr is a flat out liar he stated that he would retire,if he had to play for another coach so the day gruden was fired his bible banging as should have retired
    YOU LIED
    YOU SIN
    YOUR SCUM

    1. Carr stated he would stop playing ball if he no longer played for the Raiders not a Coach. Grudens coming and he is bringing Hell with him, enjoy the ride screwball

    2. You’re a garbage human and a terrible person. You should be ashamed to be alive and say such stupid things. Loser.

    3. Jason……let him without sin cast the first stone. Christians like you make me pray even harder. Spend a little more time in your bible and less judging others.

    4. Dude your freaking crazy Derek can’t control this Jon still 6 more on his contract and if he stayed Derek would be 33 years old and maybe he would get out at that point so your crap he a lair is bull crap for you to say that

    5. Only a truly dense idiot would share his stupidity as boldly as you, poo breath. I’d educate you, but I take delight in your pitiful existence. Even though I’m sure you’re a perfect angel, right? Thanks for the laughs, soggy cheeks.

  2. This is not about money is what I first thought when I heard about the lawsuit. Gruden wants to expose the dirty side of the NFL and what better way to do that, take them to court to reveal information the NFL does not want the public or Congress to see.
Now I get why Al Davis battled the NFL.

    1. Really ? , another RAIDERS scandal with ( authority ) , we’ve been the target of so bullshit from the NFL , but think about it, without the RAIDERS in the league, would football really be that intriguing ? We are the bad boyz in the league , what would the NFL do without us. As long as the days end in y we’re going to target of something.
The RAIDERS…………….us against the world, lol

      4 life and the afterlife

  3. NFL may not like this…
I thought Gtuden was going to do this from day 1…
They used him as a scapegoat & drug his name in the mud…
I think it was to hide stuff & sweep it under the rug…

  4. It’s an obvious Hit-job. The man has a case and as much right to justice as any. The NFL just made “THE” mistake that some legal warbird would love to drag into court, because he’s not after money, he want’s their collective asses. The Billion-dollar-Boyz Club that is the NFL owners power orgasm needs to be brought to the light and exposed, and disbanded. Make the field of play level, again.

  5. He said he would only my play for the Raiders and would retire if they didn’t resign him…..not Gruden.

  6. Gruden belongs with the Raiders, this is such an Al Davis move. Even if he’s not a head coach for the team he needs to return in some way. I don’t care what he said, his actions speak much louder than his words and he should sue the NFL. It was obvious the NFL was trying to cause maximum damage on the Raiders when spirits were high
