2022 Chiefs NFL draft prospects: Group 11

Another great day of college football is here, which means we’ve got an entirely new group of prospects to check out. We’ve identified over 200 college prospects to keep an eye on ahead of the 2022 NFL draft, all of whom might be potential fits with the Kansas City Chiefs. I’ll be releasing my thoughts on many of the prospects in random groups of four on Saturdays throughout the college football season.

Our eleventh group of prospects includes an under-the-radar receiver, a linebacker with the heart of a lion, a running back who compares to Derrick Henry and a pressure-producing edge rusher.

One of the most impressive wideouts in the country, Tolbert dominates the competition in the Group of 5 conference. He has proven to be a threat at all levels of the field, boasting a great blend of size (6-3, 195 pounds) and speed (reported 4.4 40-yard dash time). He can win vertically whether he outruns an opponent or wins at the catch point, but he’s equally dangerous with the ball in his hands.

The Chiefs are in desperate need of finding another receiver who can defeat single coverage and command the middle of the field. Tolbert can do exactly that and you can probably get him outside of the first round.

Georgia LB Nakobe Dean

Dean is the energizer rabbit for a dominant Georgia Bulldogs defense. He’s quick to diagnose offensive plays, he’s always attacking and he has a winning mindset. While he doesn’t have the ideal size (6-foot, 225 pounds), he makes up for it with his football IQ and his athleticism. He’s great in coverage, explosive as a blitzer and he even gets some work in on special teams. It’s hard to imagine any aspect of his game that wouldn’t be transferrable to the NFL game.

Adding a player like Dean to the mix feels like a luxury when the Chiefs already have Willie Gay Jr. and Nick Bolton. At the same time, it’s hard to argue against adding more speed, athleticism, smarts and talent to the position group. Kansas City has been so devoid of talent there for the past few years that stacking talent feels like the right call.

I like to think of Price as budget Derrick Henry. He’s 6-2, 225 pounds and he runs like a player two inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter. He can run through defenders with incredible contact balance, but he also has some elusiveness to his game if you get him out in space. He flashes that breakaway speed that the Chiefs are currently lacking too.

Running back is never an attractive draft pick, but grabbing a player like Price on Day 2 or Day 3 would be a coup for Kansas City. He’s exactly the type of player they need to get the most out of this offensive line. He could also challenge a player like Clyde Edwards-Helaire and push him to get better in his third season as a professional.

Arkansas DE Tre Williams

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

Listed at 6-5 and 255 pounds, Williams is one of the best pass rushers in this draft class. The Colombia, Missouri native boasts a top-5 pressure percent in the country. The fifth-year senior has been having a bit of a breakout campaign this year, with three games with at least two tackles for loss and two games with two sacks. He has really learned to use the long-arm technique to defeat blocks and frustrate offensive linemen. As a result, offensive linemen have been giving him what I like to call “The Tamba Hali Treatment.”

Even with a resurgent pass rush in recent weeks, the Chiefs need to reload at defensive end this offseason. Williams is definitely someone they’ll want to keep an eye on as the season progresses and into the pre-draft process.
