Men's Soccer Heads North to Portland for Season Finale

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The USF Dons' men's soccer program (2-12-1, 0-5-1) is back on the road to finish their 2021 regular season against the Portland Pilots (9-6-1, 3-2-1) Saturday night. USF is coming off a 1-0 home loss to Loyola Marymount last Sunday on Senior Day.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Last time out, USF celebrated Shayan Charalaghi, Ivo Neto and Dominic Valdivida on Senior Day, but the Dons ultimately fell to Loyola Marymount on a late goal in the 88th minute. Despite the loss, Nonso Adimabua logged at least two shots for the tenth time this season. In goal, Brandon Keniston racked up six saves against the Lions, his third most in a match this fall and the eigth time in nine appearances this fall in which he has tallied at least five saves.
  • Heading into the final match of the year, Adimabua currently ranks third in the WCC in total shots with 37 and seventh in total points with 11.  
  • For Keniston, the Scottsdale native currently sits third in the conference in total saves with 52 while also ranking fifth in save percentage with a .712 clip on the season.
SCOUTING THE PILOTS:
  • In their last outing on the pitch, Portland fell 4-1 on the road at No. 20 Santa Clara on Saturday, Nov. 6. Offensively, Sebastian Nava scored his fifth goal of the season for the Pilots on a penalty kick in the 68th minute.
  • Overall, Nava has paced the offense so far this year for Portland as the midfielder currently leads the team with four goals while also being tied for the team lead with eight points. 
  • Inside the cage, goalkeeper George Tasouris has started all 16 matches for the Pilots this season as he has posted a 0.792 save percentage while only allowing 15 goals.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Portland currently holds the advantage between the two programs as the Pilots have the edge, 12-7, through the first 19 matches. In their last meeting, the two schools ended in a 0-0 tie during the abbreviated spring 2021 season on Apr. 11.
