ArenaNet confirmed that many players raised hopes over nothing as Tengu will not be a playable race in Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons.

Guild Wars 2 : End of Dragons is the third major expansion for the game and since neither of the previous two added any playable races, the community hoped Cantha would also bring something new to play with. This is true in many forms but not in the sense of getting a new species from which we could create characters.

This info was confirmed during the Guild Chat episode where the devs toured the Echovald Wilds and introduced the fans to the iconic lands from the original Guild Wars. While we won't be able to create a customisable Tengu of our own, there are some related additions some players might find adorable.

We are, of course, referring to the new Tengu that looks much less like a bird of prey and more like a fluffy creature that is just great to see anywhere in the world. Looks might end up deceiving and just like all of its brethren, this particular bi-pedal avian seems to be well-versed in the art of combat as it's equipped with a bow and looks ready for battle.

Other than the Tengu race, there was a lot of focus on everything else the vast Echovald Wilds offer, such as the verticality of this map that will require a mount to be properly explored.

On that note, players will get a raptor and a springer automatically, even if they didn't unlock them prior to exploring the area.
