English Dub Review: I’m Standing on a Million Lives “On a Million Lives”

Overview:

Glenda has figured out the identity of the Dragon Bishop who’s been secretly at work in the area. With her identity exposed, the Dragon Bishop confesses that she was behind everything that’s happened since they began the current quest, and explains that she approached Yotsuya’s party while searching for a hidden village in order to complete her ritual. Thus begins the battle between the Dragon Bishop and the party of heroes.

Our Take:

Alright so… positives first since there are fewer of those, unfortunately. The main one is I love it when powers are used in unique and different ways. It’s what makes JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and My Hero Academia so much fun to watch. Yusuke uses his creature magic in a really cool way to defeat the dragon bishop. Definitely the highlight of the episode for me.

That is actually all of the positives. I wish that wasn’t the case but this show has just gone downhill since the start. The first season was really enjoyable even if it was a pretty typical anime. It really goes to show you how much characters can affect a story. The characters in season one stood out and the ones introduced in this season were alright but some were short-term and others weren’t introduced till the last half.

By now you probably know how important endings are to me. This is another detriment to this season because we have no idea if a third season will ever come. If the manga sales and reception to this season are anything to go by though I won’t be holding my breath. So, it just ends and we get another “read the manga” ending. You know how much I love those.

There isn’t too much more to say about this episode, it wasn’t good. It had one good part but that lasted like two to three minutes. I love isekai and was really excited about this but it just left too much to be desired. I am going to go way more in-depth on the season as a whole in my season review.
