After being a virtual event last year, SFFilm’s annual year-end fundraising event is roaring back with star power next month.

Actor Oscar Isaac, actor-director Maggie Gyllenhaal and directors Jane Campion and Reinaldo Marcus Green will appear in person on Dec. 6 at the YBCA Forum, part of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts complex in San Francisco, to accept honors at the SFFilm Awards Night.

“I can’t tell you how tremendous it feels to be back in person celebrating such exceptional talent,” Anne Lai, executive director of SFFilm, said in a statement released Friday, Nov. 12. “Jane, Reinaldo, Maggie and Oscar embody the spirit and brilliance we value so much in singular storytelling. Their work this year has raised the bar.”

Isaac has been seen recently in the box office hit “Dune” and Paul Schrader’s intense art house noir “The Card Counter.” He’ll receive the SFFilm Award for Acting.

Gyllenhaal will receive the Kanbar Award for Storytelling. The Oscar-nominated actress is making a splash with her feature film directorial debut, “The Lost Daughter,” which won best screenplay at the Venice Film Festival in September and picked up a best ensemble award at last month’s Mill Valley Film Festival.

Campion, a legendary New Zealand-born director who established her unique vision in the Australian film industry (“The Piano”) and has often worked in Hollywood (“In the Cut”), will receive the Irving M. Levin Award for Film Direction. Her latest, “The Power of the Dog,” which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, is due in theaters Nov. 17 and on Netflix soon after.

Green, who is receiving the SFFilm Special Award for Distinctive Voice, is a rising filmmaker whose “King Richard,” about the rise of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams and their mercurial father, is in theaters this month and is considered an awards contender.
