UFC President Dana White can be seen as a controversial figure. Things like fighter pay and his stance on many situations have earned him a lot of scrutinies. Sean O'Malley is one of the people that sings his praises.

Many organizations in sports, like the NFL, for example, require their athletes to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The UFC is not one of those organizations.

It could be because the athletes are independent contractors or it could be for many different reasons. UFC bantamweight Sean O'Malley sees it as a good thing. Dana White spoke about the subject in an interview with TSN.

“I would never tell another human being what to do with their body,” White said. “If you want to get vaccinated, that’s up to you. That’s your choice. You’re never gonna hear me say, I’m gonna force people to get vaccinated. Never gonna happen. I think a lot of people are doing that. They’re telling you in New York, you can’t go into a restaurant or a gym unless you’re vaccinated and can prove it and things like that. Some people are getting fired if they don’t get vaccinated. That’s not gonna happen here. If you wanna get vaccinated, get vaccinated. If you don’t, that’s your decision, your body.”

Sean O'Malley spoke briefly on the subject himself on his podcast. He thought the UFC President did a good thing.

“It’s such a weird thing. I think Dana just came out and said, ‘It’s fucking America. We’re a free country. My athletes don’t have to get vaccinated,” said O’Malley on his podcast (transcription via sportskeeda). “That’s so cool… we’re so lucky.”

Sean O'Malley is currently preparing for his next UFC fight against Raulian Paiva on December 11. He'll be looking to win in order to climb the rankings of the bantamweight division.
