Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan is opening up about Daisy Midgeley and Daniel Osbourne's secret romance storyline after they tell Jenny they've split in order to keep things more private.

In upcoming scenes on the soap, the unlikely twosome are set to head to the bedroom as Daisy promises to make things up to Daniel after getting a little cosy with newcomer Ashley after being encouraged by Jenny.

"It's just a bit of fun," Charlotte explained of Daisy's flirtation with Ashley, noting that "it's not a malicious thing. It's just, 'okay, I'm gonna have some fun here'."

It sounds like Charlotte, who plays Daisy, is hoping things work out for Daisy and Daniel, as she admitted she thinks the two "could really work well together" despite being so different. "Daniel probably brings out the more human side of Daisy and steers her in the right direction. And Daisy will loosen Daniel up," she explained.

But does Daisy really feel about Daniel the way it seems he feels about her? Charlotte admitted that she thinks Daisy's feelings are "genuine", even if she never intended things to get so serious.

"[Daniel is] everything that's good. And [Daisy] is… just a flawed human, but she is somewhat selfish, and what she wants drives her. So I think it's nice for her to spend some time with someone that's the opposite of that, and having a kid to look after is selfless. That's what's gonna help her go in the right direction," she added.

As for why the couple decide to tell people they'd headed to splitsville, Charlotte admitted she thinks her character is actually pretty into the secrecy surrounding their romance.

"Everyone is giving their opinion about their relationship and basically telling them that they're mad, and it's all going to end in tears, and they're doomed. It's from Jenny. It's from Adam. It's from everyone, telling them not to do it. And I'm pretty sure they're just sick of hearing it," she explained.

"[Daisy's] main focus really is going to be Jenny and her grief, and making sure she's okay. And if Jenny thinks that's all she's got to worry about, she'll stay off her back about the rest of her life."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
