Men’s Golf Signs James Newton and Logan Paczewski to 2022 Class

Newton
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's golf program and head coach Rob Shutte have announced the official signings of James Newton and Logan Paczewski to the team's 2022 class.

James Newton (Ottawa, Canada) and Logan Paczewski (Dallas, Penn.) will both join the Scarlet Knights family after both signings became official on Friday.

Newton was ranked third in the 2022 class in Canada according to Junior Golf Scoreboard and won the 99th Ontario Junior Boys (U19) Championships for his performance  at the Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge, Ontario.Newton finished four laps of the Whistle Bear layout at 16-under-par, with scores of 68-67-70, and 67.

Newton comes from a wealth of talent in Canada where Shutte has had great success recruiting in recent years. Xavier Marcoux is a junior on the roster from Canada can help the transition for Newton.

"When I watched James for the first time, one thing that stands out is he has one of the nicest golf swings I've ever seen," Shutte said. "His swing is very sound. He's been living in Florida, so I think his transition is going to be easier on him. The Canadian market has been great to our program, and we can't wait to welcome James to the Scarlet Knights family."
Logan Golf

Logan Paczewski is from the state of Pennsylvania and was ranked second in his class in the state according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. He competed in eight events last season and was ranked either first or second in the state throughout the entire high school season.
Shutte and the Rutgers men's golf program really appreciate his personality on the golf course and off.

"Logan is one of these guys we were able to see a number of times before the COVID-19 shutdown," Shutte said. "I remember the day I saw him as a freshman in high school. It was by far one of the easiest conversations. He's so charismatic and has a big personality. He has a very free-flowing golf swing. He's a gunslinger and proven-winner and we are so excited to welcome Logan to Rutgers."

Both golfers are ranked in the top 150 in the nation according to the site.
