For nearly 14 years, her father and court-appointed guardians controlled Spears’s finances and personal decisions, including health and medical choices.

“As of today, the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated,” Judge Brenda Penny ordered.

Elated fans shouted in jubilation as choruses of hit Britney songs echoed through downtown Los Angeles outside the courthouse.

After giving emotional testimony this summer for the first time publicly, a judge allowed Spears to hire an attorney of her choosing. Her new counsel worked to remove her father, Jamie Spears, as conservator of her estate.

Court filings showed Britney Spears’s net worth is roughly $60 million.

The decision capped a stunning five-month odyssey that saw Spears publicly demand the end of the conservatorship, hire her own attorney, have her father removed from power and finally win the freedom to make her own medical, financial, and personal decisions for the first time since 2008.

Spears took to Instagram to thank her fans and shared their celebrations in the streets of L.A., saying "Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy!!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day!!!! Best day ever…praise the Lord…can I get an Amen ????"

The conservatorship is ending just a few weeks before the pop star celebrates her 40th birthday. She is engaged to be married a second time.
