Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg reveals next movie role

Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg has revealed what his next movie role will be, taking on an iconic duo alongside Big Mouth star John Mulaney.

The two appeared in a video announcement as part of Disney+ Day, in which they shared that they will be taking over voicing duties for Chip 'n Dale in the upcoming live-action film Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

"Now, I know what you are thinking," said Samberg in the clip, "'Another reboot? Noo!' But our film isn't a reboot, it's a comeback.

"But don't take it from me, take it from the marketing people who wrote it down on this adorable little script," he continued, before the video showed a poster for the movie with a chipmunk-sized script, which read on the cover: "A ~~reboot~~ comeback 30 years in the making!!"

As confirmed by the poster, we also found out that the movie is set to premiere in Spring 2022.

The hybrid live-action-animated feature, directed by Akiva Schaffer, was first announced at Disney's Investor Day last year. Alongside the two funnymen, Seth Rogen is also expected to cameo.

The original Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers animated series – which ran for three seasons between 1989 and 1990 – focused on the two titular rodents and their team fighting crimes together in both the human and animal world.

Reprising his role is Corey Burton as Zipper, a tiny housefly who is the sidekick to Monterey Jack, a red-haired moustachioed mouse that's part of the team. Burton has also been voicing Dale since the 90s, with Tress MacNeille voicing Chip.

Disney+ Day also gave fans a brand new trailer for its Big Hero 6 series Baymax! as well as a first look at Hocus Pocus 2.
