Taylor Swift jokes around with comedian Bowen Yang and actor Jonathan Majors during first promo for her appearance on Saturday Night Live

Taylor Swift showed her comedic side in a newly released promo for her Saturday Night Live musical guest appearance on November 13.

The 31-year-old songstress got jabbed by SNL players Aidy Bryant and Bowen Yang  over the fact that she would be performing despite not having released her Red album (which then dropped Friday).

In the promo the players humorously shifted the attention to themselves and softly laid into Swift, which gave way to an intentionally sheepish response from the crooner.

The roughly 40-second promo — which dropped on Thursday November 11 ahead of her album release — opened with this week's host Jonathan Majors, 32, teeing up he and Swift's appearances.

'Hi I'm Jonathan Majors, and I'm hosting SNL with musical guest Taylor Swift,' he began.

Majors is an actor who has starred in Lovecraft Country and The Harder They Fall.

Immediately after he finished Bryant interjected: 'And I'll also be singing one song from a yet-to-be-released album.'

Yang then one-upped her statement as he said: 'I will also be doing a song from an album I haven't even written yet.'

Throwing jabs: The general shtick of the promo was that both Bryant and Yang softly laid into Taylor for performing despite not having released her Red album, which ultimately dropped Friday
Third string: Going along with the shtick after seemingly being put on the back burner music-wise, Taylor responded: 'I'll also be doing music if there's time'

Throughout the skit Majors acted taken aback as he inquired if the SNL cast members had 'checked with producers,' for the last minute musical numbers.

The promo ended with the foursome taking turns reciting one word from Majors' opening introductory line before the Wildest Dreams singer and the Lovecraft Country star chest bumped.

Swift has performed on Saturday Night Live five times since 2009, including once as host and an additional cameo on the show's 40th anniversary episode.

This week's appearance comes just one day after she released her expanded re-recording of her 2012 album titled Red (Taylor's Version).

Red: She wrote in excerpt of the re-release: 'Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours...Tonight we begin again'

She wrote in excerpt of the re-release: 'Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours. Tonight we begin again.'

The first Red album was only 16 tracks but the new version features 30 songs including nine previously unreleased songs that did not make the cut on the last album.

Additionally the re-recording features collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers, Gary Lightbody, Ed Sheeran and Chris Stapleton, and it has already been better received than the first album.

She kicked off her album release with a screening of a 10-minute short film All Too Well which accompanied the track of the same name.

Swift wrote, directed and starred in the film and held a viewing at the AMC Lincoln Square 13 theatres in New York City on Friday.

Out now! On Friday November 12, Taylor released her expanded re-recording of her 2012 album titled Red (Taylor's Version) which features 30 tracks including nine previously unreleased songs

Though she has never explicitly confirmed it, All Too Well is a track that is widely thought to be about Jake Gyllenhaal, 40, and their relationship.

They dated from October to December 2010 and split shortly before her 21st birthday.

New lyrics in the re-recorded version seem to imply that age was the reason for the split as she sings: 'You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine / And that made me want to die.'

Red (Taylor's Version) is the second album she has re-recorded following Fearless (Taylor's Version) in April.

The Blank Space singer decided to re-record her first six albums under a new contract with Universal's Republic Records, after Scooter Braun sold the rights to her masters for $300 million in November 2020.
