“Chaos Reigns” on The Browning’s New Single

The Browning — which is now really just one dude, Jonny McBee — have released a new song called “Chaos Reigns.”

The title, I should not have to tell you, is a reference to Lars Von Trier’s extremely disturbing 2009 film, Antichrist. Specifically, it’s a reference to this moment, which is at once oddly funny and deeply unsettling:

For better or worse, that’s the extent of the similarities between Antichrist and The Browning’s “Chaos Reigns.” Antichrist is a transcendent journey into the deepest emotional and philosophical abyss life has to offer. “Chaos Reigns” is half boilerplate deathcore, half above-average Fear Factory wannabe. Not bad, but not quite on the same level as Von Trier’s masterpiece.

Listen to “Chaos Reigns” below. The Browning’s new album, End of Existence, is out December 3 via Spinefarm. Pre-order it here
