Today is such a good new day for new music, as evidenced by the release of Damon Albarn's new album The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows, his second solo outing.

Out today via Albarn's new label home Transgressive Records, the album was initially intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland. But this last year saw Albarn eager to get back to music, working during the lockdown, with the resulting 11 tracks inspired by fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth.

“I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist," says Albarn of the new LP.
