NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check NBC Sports EDGE’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 2W, 2D, 2UTIL 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are five games scheduled for Friday.

Forwards:

Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina) – W - $8,700 FanDuel, $7,200 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Alex Ovechkin are all set to play tonight and they’re always worthy of consideration, but they’re also extremely expensive. If you want a high-end player and a bit less of an extravagant price, Svechnikov is a good compromise choice. He’s only been held off the scoresheet once this season and has contributed seven goals and 15 points in 11 contests.

William Nylander (Toronto) – W - $7,500 FanDuel, $7,700 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

Nylander is going into Friday’s action on a five-game point streak. He’s having a great campaign with seven goals and 13 points in 14 contests. That makes him pretty reasonable at his price point, particularly on FanDuel.

Jonathan Toews (Chicago) – C - $5,000 FanDuel, $4,400 DraftKings, $15 Yahoo

If you want a fairly cheap center who can still chip in, Toews is a great choice. He was held off the scoresheet in his first five games of the season, but since then he’s registered eight assists in nine games. That’s good value given what the sites have listed him at and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end his goal scoring drought soon too.

Bargain Bin: Andrew Mangiapane (CAL) - $5,000 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Rasmus Asplund (BUF) - $4,800 FanDuel/$4,800 DraftKings/$16 Yahoo, Tage Thompson (BUF) - $4,500 FanDuel/$5,600 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Jakub Voracek (CLM) - $4,400 FanDuel/$3,700 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Boone Jenner (CLM) - $4,300 FanDuel/$4,800 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Oliver Kylington (CAL) - $4,000 FanDuel/$3,000 DraftKings/$13 Yahoo

Defensemen:

Seth Jones (Chicago) - $6,600 FanDuel, $6,600 DraftKings, $18 Yahoo

Jones has been a steady offensive contributor in his first season with the Blackhawks. He’s on a five-game point streak and has a goal and 12 points in 14 contests. That puts him in a five-way tie for third place in the defensemen scoring race.

Tony DeAngelo (Carolina) - $5,300 FanDuel, $5,400 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo

For DeAngelo’s price on FanDuel and DraftKings, he’s made significant offensive contributions so far this season. He already has two goals and 11 points in 11 games. He’s been a consistent contributor too, recording at least a point in eight of those 11 contests.

Bargain Bin: Shayne Gostisbehere (ARI) - $4,800 FanDuel/$4,800 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Jaccob Slavin (CAR) - $4,300 FanDuel/$4,500 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Evan Bouchard (EDM) - $4,300 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo

Goaltenders:

Jack Campbell (Toronto) - $8,600 FanDuel, $7,900 DraftKings, $36 Yahoo

Campbell had never played in more than 31 games in a single season going into 2021-22 so there were naturally questions about how he’d handle the starter’s role. So far the answer is: Extremely well. He has a 7-3-1 record, 1.90 GAA, and .936 save percentage in 12 games, making him one of the league’s top goaltenders.

Bargain Bin: Frederik Andersen (CAR) - $8,000 FanDuel/$8,000 DraftKings/$38 Yahoo
