Like, I know a lot is going on today, what with Beyoncé releasing a new song, Taylor Swift rereleasing Red, and the entirety of Twitter absolutely roasting Jake Gyllenhaal, but important announcement. Disney just dropped its very first look at Hocus Pocus 2 and I’M SIMPLY NOT OKAY!!!
Just going to get right to it.
I could literally cry from Hocus Pocus–induced emotions, which I’m not sure is the reaction Disney is going for with this tweet, yet here we are.
Obviously, you probably have questions at this point, including but not limited to When is this movie coming out? and Is Thackery Binx in it? We have an entire explainer for you to dive into here, but TL;DR: Hocus Pocus is dropping in fall 2022, which is…way too long from now, but fine, whatever.
We also know that the movie takes place in current times (we’ll miss the ’90s vibes, TBH) when three young women accidentally summon the Sanderson sisters to Salem, as one does.
Director Anne Fletcher told the Hollywood Reporter that she’s totally psyched about the movie, saying, “We should be laughing every day, and there is so much fun to be had with these three unbelievable women playing delicious characters from such a beloved film. I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special. This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers, and I can’t wait to get started.”
