Roush Fenway Racing are set to make another “major announcement” regarding the future of their NASCAR Cup Series team next week.

When Roush Fenway Racing confirmed in mid-July that a “major announcement” was on the way the following week, every NASCAR fan had a pretty good — if not an exact — idea regarding what that “major announcement” was.

What was widely considered the “worst kept secret in NASCAR” was confirmed when the Jack Roush and Fenway Sports Group-owned operation confirmed the addition of not only a new driver but a new team co-owner for the 2022 season and beyond.

Brad Keselowski signed just a one-year extension with Team Penske last year, and after 12 seasons with the team, he decided that the 2021 season would be his last and that he would be joining Roush Fenway Racing in 2022.

A key part of his decision came down to the fact that Roush Fenway Racing were able to offer him what Roger Penske’s team could not: team ownership.

So Keselowski is set to replace Ryan Newman behind the wheel of the #6 Ford next year, all while serving as a team co-owner.

One thing that was not included in this announcement, however, was the confirmation of a change in team name.

With Roush Fenway Racing set to include Keselowski as a co-owner from 2022, it was always believed that a team name change was on the way, but confirmation was said to be on its way at a later date.

Now, according to Davey Segal of Frontstretch and SiriusXM NASCAR, the team will be making a “major announcement” next Tuesday, November 16 regarding the future branding of the team.

The announcement is slated to take place at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Keselowski, Roush and team president Steve Newmark are all set to attend.

It is expected that this announcement will at least feature news regarding the change of the team’s name, given the fact that the 2021 season is in the books and Keselowski is now fully committed to his new team. It may or may not also pertain to the introduction of a new logo for 2022 and beyond.

The team’s most recent name change came back in 2007, when Roush Racing became Roush Fenway Racing due to the addition of Fenway Sports Group as a co-owner.

The 2022 season is scheduled to get underway with a race that Keselowski has not yet managed to win: the Daytona 500. The 64th running of the “Great American Race” is scheduled to be contested at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, February 20. Roush Fenway Racing have secured two wins in this crown jewel event, one in 2009 and another in 2012.
