Harry Kane Defends Brother And Agent Over Failed Transfer To Manchester City

Harry Kane has said the criticism aimed at his brother and agent Charlie was "difficult to take" amid this summer's failed £160 million transfer to Manchester City.

The England international's older brother Charlie, who runs the company CK66, was heavily criticised for his handling of a potential move to the reigning Premier League champions.

It was reported back in July that Kane had reportedly "shaken hands" on a record-breaking transfer to City after being given the green light from Spurs owner Daniel Levy.

Levy, known for playing hardball over negotiations, is said to have told the 28-year-old striker and his brother Charlie that the transfer was good to go.

Two days later, Kane is believed to have told family and friends about the £160 million move while best man at Charlie's wedding, with reports claiming he was all set to earn £400,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium.

Those talks surrounding a move eventually broke down in spectacular fashion before the window slammed shut and now, Kane has defended his brother's role in the situation.

"Whatever the circumstance, whenever there is stuff being written about your family, it's always maybe a little bit difficult to take, especially when it's stuff that's negative," Kane said via Sky Sports.

"But I think that's when families really come together during those moments. Obviously I'm very close to my brother and my parents, my wife, her family, so there's plenty of people that I know and trust and am able to talk to."

He continued, saying: "It's never easy when there is any negative story about yourself or someone you know, or your friends, or team-mates. In the summer, there was a lot of stuff about my brother, being my agent.

"That's where we stick together. I know what he does for me as an agent, I know what he does for me as a brother and that's all that matters.

"The rest of it is just noise from our point of view. It's just about us sticking together and whatever the circumstance, always being there for each other and that's what we'll continue to do."
