Authorities identified 22-year-old Samantha Smith who died after a car crash in Battle Ground (Battle Ground, WA)

Officials identified 22-year-old Samantha Smith, a resident of Vancouver, who died while 21-year-old Joseph Manson and 21-year-old Issiah Blocker suffered injuries Tuesday following a single-vehicle crash in Battle Ground.

The fatal car crash took place on early Tuesday morning, at about 2:30 a.m. on NE Risto Road. According to the investigation reports, a Mazda was traveling east at a high rate of speed when the vehicle swerved off the roadway and crashed into a large tree.

The injured driver was identified as Joseph Manson whereas the injured passenger was identified as 21-year-old Issiah Blocker, of Battle Ground. Excessive speed of the vehicle contributed to the accident.

An investigation continues.
