Representative Glen Casada (R-District 63) said Wednesday he will not seek re-election to the State House. Elected in 2001, the announcement marks the end of his 20-year career as a state representative.
“This decision comes after much prayer and thought,” Casada said. “I am blessed and grateful to have served Williamson County and to have achieved many goals for my constituents, but it is time for a new chapter of public service.”
Casada did not immediately detail what his new chapter of public service will look like.
The embattled lawmaker resigned from his post as Speaker of the House in 2019 following a statehouse scandal that sparked when texts between Casada and his former Chief of Staff surfaced, exposing sexist and racist comments.FBI agents raided the homes and offices of Casada and other state Republicans back in January.
