Gas prices hit a 7-year high in U.S. Here's where to find the cheapest gas in Columbus

We're continuing to pay more at the gas pump. 

AAA is reporting that gas prices have hit a seven-year high as customers are continuing to see higher prices with holiday travel days coming soon.

National gas prices have increased 1.8 cents since last week, according to GasBuddy and are at $3.41 per gallon as of Monday.

GasBuddy also reports that the national average is up 15.1 cents from a month ago, and $1.31 from a year ago. 

According to the American Auto Association, Michigan experienced the largest weekly increase in gas prices at an additional 16 cents a gallon, followed by Ohio (+14 cents), Indiana (+11 cents), Arizona (+7 cents), New Mexico (+5 cents), Illinois (+5 cents), Minnesota (+3 cents), Oklahoma (+3 cents), New Hampshire (+3 cents) and Texas (+2 cents).

How high are gas prices rising in Columbus?

Around Columbus as of Monday, prices rose 2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging at $3.30 per gallon. Prices were 7 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.23 per gallon higher than a year ago. 

Where you can find cheap gas in Columbus?

As of Wednesday morning, GasBuddy reported the cheapest gas stations around Columbus at Marathon at Sullivant Avenue at $2.99 per gallon. The Sheetz and United Dairy Farmers, Marathon and Speedway stations on Cemetery Road in Hilliard all reported $3.04 a gallon prices.

GasBuddy official says help is on the way

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, said that the country should see "small declines this week in a majority of the country, thanks to the corresponding drop in wholesale gasoline prices."
