Lady Gaga's Super-High Slit Wasn't the Only Surprise in Her Latest Red Carpet Look

There isn't a red carpet that can't use a dose of Lady Gaga. And now that she's out promoting House of Gucci, fans are being treated to high-watt fashion moments leading up to the film's U.S. premiere later this month, including a show-stopping purple gown with a super-high slit and — to the delight of photographers and Little Monsters everywhere — a long light-as-air cape that she dramatically tossed into the air behind her.

The purple dress, which Gaga chose for the U.K. premiere of the film, featured a deep, purple hue and was covered in tiny pleats and gathered on the bodice in a dramatic crisscross pattern. Gaga added long, rhinestone-encrusted gloves and a pair of geometric tights (which peeked through the super-high slit) as well as sky-high platform ankle boots. Finishing touches included a matching smoky eye, diamond earrings, and a chunky gold choker.

The purple outfit is sure to go down in history thanks to the over-the-top photos of Gaga tossing the cape into the heavens, but it'll be tough to beat the meat dress she wore in 2010. She talked about the MTV VMAs moment during a video with British Vogue, saying that it was commentary on the U.S.'s Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.

"We decided to do the meat dress because I thought to myself if we were willing to die for your country, what does it matter how you identify," she said. "This was ultimately designed by Franc Fernandez, but it was the brainchild of House of Gaga and we were backstage with Brandon Maxwell, who was working as one of my stylists at the time."

And if that wasn't iconic enough, how about a boa made of $100 bills? Or her bulletproof inauguration look? Oh, how about her turban? Or no-pants trip to West Hollywood? There are too many to count, but there's no doubt that the ongoing House of Gucci press tour is sure to give a few more unforgettable moments.
