Most Celtic fans will know about Jordan Larsson, the son of one of the greatest players in the history of the club Henrik Larsson. The 24-year-old currently plays for Spartak Moscow and made quite an impressive last season. And perhaps naturally, he has been linked with a move to Parkhead from time to time. It would be surprising if he was not.

Rumours have emerged recently once again about a potential move though. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Celtic are one of the clubs who have their sights set on Larsson, with Spartak Moscow ready to let him leave in January.

Larsson had a very impressive 2020/21 campaign and has already made quite a few appearances for the Sweden national team as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 Russian Premier Liga appearances for Spartak Moscow last season. This campaign has been very different though and he has not scored or assisted in 12 league appearances till now.

A move for Larsson at this point could be a massive mistake at this point of time and Celtic must not do it this January.

Making a move for Larsson could be a massive mistake for Celtic right now

There are two big reasons why a move for Larsson right now could be a big mistake. The first one is the options that Ange Postecoglou already has right now. The second is the transfer fee that it might require to sign him.

Kyogo has been absolutely superb since coming in and beyond him, they have Giorgos Giakoumakis, who has had a difficult start at Parkhead but was the Eredivisie top scorer last season.

Albian Ajeti might end up leaving in the near future, but then, they are already being linked with a move for Daizen Maeda.

Thus, a move for Larsson, especially for the €10 million transfer fee that he is believed to be rated at, would most probably be a mistake.
