Call Of Duty's Death Glitch Is Showing Its Ugly Face Again
"Call of Duty: Vanguard" hasn't even been out for a full week, but fans have already discovered what appears to be the unwelcome return of a familiar glitch: doorways that instakill characters upon approach. No bullets, no bombs — just regular doors that somehow glitch HP and shields into oblivion. Basically, the confusing murder doors from "Call of Duty: Warzone" have expanded beyond Verdansk and into the new title.
Redditor Benguinn posted a clip of themselves playing a multiplayer Deathmatch game before falling prey to a killer door. In the clip, Benguinn had just secured a kill before running toward a seemingly normal door. However, the door opened and slapped the screen red before Beguinn or the player on the other side could spare a bullet. No death replay appeared to show another player as being responsible for the kill, either.
"I just died to a door," Benguinn wrote in their post. Commenters were sympathetic, bringing up other instakill instances that were probably the result of weird bugs.
"I died on the platform on B flag of Gavutu," another commenter said, explaining they'd been crushed by a seemingly innocent piece of geography. "It rose up and I got wedged into the ship." One person even chimed in to say the same thing happened to them on the same map, insinuating that this could either be the result of a bug or simply being in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Either way, this is just the latest in a string of issues with "Call of Duty: Vanguard."
How Call of Duty: Vanguard is going
So far, it seems the "Vanguard" playerbase agrees that these deadly doors aren't that out of the ordinary, even though they should probably be addressed. Still, this apparently returning bug just adds to the long to-do list that "Call of Duty" developers need to patch amidst the game's less-than-ideal launch.
Critics gave "Call of Duty: Vanguard" mixed scores based on its campaign, but overall seemed to enjoy its multiplayer. However, "Vanguard" is off to a rocky start with players, mainly thanks to complaints about its multiplayer pacing and broken Search & Destroy mode. On the bright side, Sledgehammer Games has given fans a few sneak peeks of what to expect in "Call of Duty: Vanguard" Season One, so players till have some things to look forward to, killer doors or no.
