BTS’ ‘Butter’ Spends Second Week Atop Hot Trending Songs Chart, Dimash & NCT 127 Debut

BTS spends a third consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard‘s weekly Hot Trending Songs chart, powered by Twitter, as “Butter” holds atop the ranking in the third iteration of the chart (dated Nov. 13).

“Butter,” released on HYBE/BigHit Music/Columbia, maintains its reign with 7 million Twitter mentions, up 157%, in the tracking week, which ran from Friday, Oct. 29 through Thursday, Nov. 5.

The song’s initial surge in conversation can be attributed in large part to the Oct. 28 announcement that it’s nominated for favorite pop song at the American Music Awards (airing Nov. 21 on ABC). It’s up against Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA; Dua Lipa’s “Levitating”; Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License”; and The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Save Your Tears.” Further conversation around BTS’ nomination has helped keep “Butter” on top.

BTS has now led for all three weeks of the chart’s existence, as “Permission to Dance” led the inaugural weekly ranking (dated Oct. 30).

“Butter” already has a successful history on Billboard‘s charts. It spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest reigning hit this year so far. It also spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and five frames atop Billboard Global Excl. U.S. (“Permission to Dance” also topped all three tallies.)

Billboard‘s Hot Trending Songs charts, powered by Twitter and sponsored by Remy Martin, track global music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter, viewable over either the last 24 hours or past seven days. A weekly, 20-position version of the chart, covering activity from Friday to Thursday of each week, posts alongside Billboard‘s other weekly charts on Billboard.com each Tuesday. The charts highlight buzz around new releases, award shows, festival moments, music nostalgia and more. Hot Trending Songs is unique in that it tracks what songs people are talking about, not necessarily what they’re listening to.

Running down the top five of the latest weekly Hot Trending Songs chart, SEVENTEEN’s “Rock With You” holds at its No. 2 high (1.5 million Twitter mentions), Mew Suppasit’s “Spaceman” surges 7-3, reaching a new peak (1.2 million), and BLACKPINK’s LISA claims the No. 4 and 5 spots with “Lalisa” (5-4; 910,000) and “Money” (4-5; 897,000), respectively.

Just outside the top five, Kazakh singer-songwriter Dimash Kudaibergen debuts at No. 6 with “Fly Away.” He performed the song at the New Wave international music contest in Sochi, Russia, in August. The song debuts with 840,000 Twitter mentions, largely thanks to continued conversation around his performance.

NCT 127’s “Favorite” debuts at No. 7 with 828,000 mentions, thanks to conversation about the Oct. 25 repackaged version of its album Sticker, newly dubbed Favorite. “Favorite” is the lead single from the set.

Rounding out the debuts in the top 10, SB19’s latest single “Bazinga” opens at No. 9 with 458,000 mentions. It climbed into the top five of the 24-hour live Hot Trending Songs chart following the Oct. 29 premiere of its official video.
