Lynn, 34, went 11-6 with a 2.69 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 157 innings across 28 starts. It marked the third straight year that Lynn drew Cy Young votes, as he finished fifth in the race in 2019 and sixth in 2020 while with the Rangers.

The other finalists were Blue Jays left-hander Robbie Ray and Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole. Ray went 13-7 with a 2.84 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 193 1/3 innings across 32 starts. Cole went 16-8 with a 3.23 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 181 1/3 innings in 30 starts.

The White Sox acquired Lynn from the Rangers last December, then later inked Lynn to a two-year contract extension that runs through 2023. The
deal includes a club option for the 2024 season.

The Cy Young award winners in each league will be announced on Nov. 17.
