UPDATE: Victim in deadly US62/180 Hudspeth County crash identified

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Hudspeth County Sheriff’s officials released the name of the driver killed in Monday morning’s wreck on US62/180, some 34 miles west of Dell City.

According to officials, 38-year-old Christian Acosta Esparza was killed when his 1989 Chevy pickup broke down in the eastbound lanes of Highway 62/180. Esparza was struck by a late-model van, and the truck burst into flames.

The driver and passenger of the van, 22-year-old Jodai Eli Garcia Diaz and 36-year-old Manuel D. Ramirez – both of Las Cruces, NM – were transported to UMC for treatment of their injuries.

The deadly early morning rollover in Hudspeth County closed a significant portion of US62/180, as first responders and law enforcement worked the scene.

DPS officials tell KTSM 9 that both the east- and west-bound lanes were blocked as a result of the wreck, and the detour was from Farm to Market Road 2775 (Hueco Road) all the way to Farm to Market Road 1111.
