Conor McGregor has told fellow UFC star Michael Chandler he's 'down' for a clash very soon.

McGregor has been out of action since July after breaking his leg against bitter rival Dustin Poirier.

It's expected he'll be back in action next year, and fans believe they've found his perfect opponent.

Chandler suffered a defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC 268 on Saturday night but he's made it no secret McGregor is in his sights.

The 35-year-old shared a photoshopped image of himself and McGregor facing off at a press conference simply captioned: "2022."

It didn't take 'Notorious' long to reply on Monday morning and he hit back with: "I'm down at some stage for sure. Great fight the other night Mike, congrats!"

Chandler then said: "Thank you sir. It would be my pleasure. See you soon."

Chandler's and Gaethje opened the show at Madison Square Garden and had an absolute war, being awarded Fight Of The Night.

The fight was an absolute slug fest with Gaethje and Chandler both landing a number of significant strikes that wobbled their rival.

From devastating leg kicks to freight train punches and even the odd flying knee, neither fighter was holding back as they went to their limit. With every shot came a roar from the electric New York crowd.

Gaethje emerged as winner via decision three rounds in and both men were taken to the hospital, after being given an incredible reception by the MSG crowd.

They reunited for a selfie in the emergency room before being discharged.

Meanwhile, McGregor has also been fanning the flames when it comes to former foe Max Holloway.

He shared an image from his victory over Holloway back in 2013 who immediately asked for a rematch early next year.
