A Carthage woman has died after a crash Saturday night in Lewis County.
Around 10:37 p.m. State Police responded to the one-car roll-over crash on Deer River Road in the town of Denmark.
According to State Police, a 2016 GMC Terrain, driven by Emily S. Ashline, 31, was traveling eastbound when she lost control on a curve in the road and crossed over into the westbound lane.
Ashline hit a barbed wire fence and several wood fence posts, police said. The vehicle then crossed back over into the eastbound lane, went down an earth embankment and then came to a rest on its roof on the edge of the Deer River.
Ashline was pronounced dead at the scene. A 34-year-old passenger was taken to Lewis County General Hospital, where she was treated and released.
The investigation continues.
