Wake Forest Basketball: 2021-22 Season Begins Tonight

The Deacs are back on the parquet tonight

NCAA Basketball: ACC Tip Off Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

This is just a friendly reminder that the 2021-22 Wake Forest Basketball season is beginning tonight with an exhibition game against Winston Salem State at 7 pm. Unfortunately, the game is not being broadcast anywhere on TV or radio, so if you aren’t in attendance at the Joel, you will have to follow along on the StatBroadcast.

In the midst of a historic football season where the Deacs are still undefeated and have a huge road game against a Big Four rival coming up, you may have missed that basketball season is here. The Deacs are taking on the Winston Salem State Rams tonight at the Joel in an exhibition game that tips off the season.

Last season was what it was—a transition year with a new coach in the middle of a global pandemic, so I don’t think anyone can be too upset about how the season ended up. That being said, Head Coach Steve Forbes has completely retooled the roster for this year and is looking to hit the ground running this season. The Deacs have a completely new look, with 9 new players, 5 incoming transfers and 4 freshman on the squad, which should help get things turned around on the hardwood.

As fans, it may be difficult to get fully into the start of basketball season while the football team is having such a historic run. That being said, do try to get out to Joel and cheer the team on—I have feeling the Deacs are going to surprise some people this season.

The first official game of the season is Wednesday, November 10th at 7pm against the William and Mary Tribe. GO DEACS!
