Two kids hit by bullet while sitting in car at NC Burger King drive-thru

DURHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Two children suffered non-life-threatening injuries when they were hit by a bullet while sitting in car at a Burger King drive-thru in Durham County, WTVD reports.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Thursday at the fast food restaurant on U.S. 70 East in Durham.

The Durham County Sheriff’s Office said the car with the children inside was in the drive-thru when the shooting happened.

The bullet broke the window of the car and hit the two children sitting in the back seat, officials said. The family then drove off and took the children to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators told WTVD they believe the family was not the intended target.

Witnesses said they heard shots fired nearby at the time the vehicle was hit. No suspects were seen and no one has been arrested.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
