Jay Ashcroft: 'we should always be striving to do a better job' for Missourians

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft joined The Marc Cox Morning show with a reminder that filing dates for municipal elections across the state are changing.

"We expect that most people don't know about this," says Ashcroft. "For people that are thinking about running, we don't want them to miss the opportunity to file and get involved in local government because the dates were moved. So now the opening dates for candidates to file will be December 7, and the filing period will actually close on December 28."

"Local elections matter," continued Ashcroft, "I've always said the school board election might be the most important election we ever have."

Ashcroft also pointed out that people calling for election audits following close races this week, are not necessarily claiming something was wrong with the election.
