Victor Wanyama makes huge Celtic return confession

Victor Wanyama is one of the best players to represent Celtic over the last decade or so. The Kenyan midfielder was signed from Beerschot as a relative unknown at that point of time but eventually went to play in some of the biggest games in football. It is clear though that he enjoyed his time at Parkhead.

His time with Celtic was absolutely brilliant as he established himself as one of the best midfielders in all of Scotland and had big moments in Europe as well.

Wanyama would end up joining Southampton afterwards and had a very good spell there as well before joining Tottenham Hotspur. His start to life there was superb as it looked like he was destined to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League but ultimately, things would fade away quite a bit. Currently, he finds himself in the MLS playing for CF Montreal.

But the desire to play for Celtic again is clearly still there in Wanyama. As reported by Football Scotland, he said regarding a potential return to Parkhead:

"“Celtic was a club that I would love to play for again and again. It’s more than a club. I enjoyed my time there.“I honestly want to come back and give it a last go because I love the club, the people there, the fans, just everything there was great.”"

Wanyama seems very open to Celtic return

One could argue that Wanyama played some of the best football of his career during his time at Celtic despite being in his early 20s at that point of time.

The midfielder is still just 30 years of age though and if everything fell in the right place, a Wanyama return might make a lot of sense for Celtic as well. At this point of time, they could certainly do with an option like him in the middle of the park.

After a couple of tough seasons at Tottenham Hotspur, Wanyama is back playing regular football again with CF Montreal. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds regarding a potential return to Celtic one day but it is great to see how much he enjoyed his time at Parkhead and we can only wish him the best of luck moving forward.
