Northeast Missouri’s newest shopping center is about to get bigger.
At the Kirksville Commons shopping center on North Baltimore Street, crews are starting a 32,000-square-foot expansion.
KTVO was finally able to confirm with the company on Wednesday that Old Navy will be one of three new tenants moving into the shopping center.
A bulldozer arrived Wednesday afternoon and started dirt work at the site.
Kirksville-based Sparks Constructors is in charge of the project.
Kirksville Real Estate Broker Kim Keyes told KTVO the new part of the development will attach to Shoe Sensation and extend the shopping complex farther north.
She said the expansion will make room for three to four new tenants.
Keyes said three new retailers are scheduled to move into the addition to the complex, Old Navy being one of them.
Due to confidentiality agreements, she is unable right now to reveal what the other two are.
Don’t expect the new retailers to pop up overnight. Keyes said the expansion project isn’t set to be finished until early June 2022.
An Old Navy spokeswoman told KTVO its new store in Kirksville will open sometime in the second half of next year.
We also know that a new Wendy’s is opening in Kirksville Commons in the coming weeks, but an exact date for that has not been announced just yet.
