Eternals is the newest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is being released on Friday, November 5.
Directed by Academy Award-winner Chloe Zhao, the superhero flick boasts a huge A-list cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan and Richard Madden amongst many others.
The film introduces a whole new cast of characters into the Marvel films, the Eternals, celestial beings who have been on Earth for thousands of years to help protect and nurture humanity.
Much like other Marvel films, Eternals will be made available to stream on Disney+, but the question is when.
When will Eternals be available on Disney+?
Disney had tested out the idea of a Marvel film coming out both in theaters and on Disney+ with Black Widow, offering subscribers to watch the film at home at an extra cost, as part of its Premium Access package.
The film then had a disappointing return in the box office, and even led lead star Scarlett Johansson to sue the company over breaching her contract, and she claimed the company had guaranteed the film would only be released in theaters.
Johansson and Disney settled their lawsuit in September, and details of the settlement were not disclosed publicly.
However, this fallout may well have steered Disney in their decision to have their films release exclusively in theaters, especially now they are allowed to open again.
Films like Jungle Cruise and Cruella were released shortly after their theatrical release on Disney+ and could be enjoyed at an extra cost to subscribers.
But following the success of Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings and Free Guy in the box office, it makes sense that Disney will only be releasing its newest Marvel film in cinemas.
This means Marvel fans hoping to watch Eternals from the comfort of their own home on November 5 will, sadly, be disappointed.
The film is initially only being released in theaters, but it will eventually come to the streaming platform.
Theaters used to have a 90-day exclusive "theatrical window" for new films before they could be released elsewhere, but this has now been reduced to 45 days.
Despite this reduced release window, Disney+ confirmed on social media Eternals will be released on their streaming platform on January 12.
