Leicester City’s versatile defender James Justin looks set to make his return to the Foxes side soon. Here is what you need to know.

It feels like so long ago now that Brendan Rodgers had the best Foxes side available for him to select. One of those missing links has been fullback James Justin. The versatile defender has been out for some time as you may have noticed.

In February 2021, during a win over Brighton & Hove Albion, the potential England international suffered an ACL injury which side-lined him for months. Now, the young defender looks set to make his return.

Right-back, centre-back, and left-back. The player has performed exceedingly well no matter which position he has been played in, and this has made him a fan favourite. Rodgers certainly missed using Justin.

According to LeicestershireLive, we know that the defender has been in non-contract training previously, and has been involved in fitness exercises prior to that as well. Now, he will return to contact training with the rest of the side.

However, this does not mean an immediate return to the senior first team. The gaffer has commented on how long it will take to reintegrate Justin.

"“He’s doing some work over the international break and he’ll probably need an under-23 game or two just to get his pitch geography again, and confidence back in that environment”– Brendan Rodgers"

Therefore, we know that the 23-year-old may make his return after the international break, and should perform in one or two U23 fixtures before he is considered fully fit and ready for senior team football in the league.

The international break starts on the weekend of November 13th 2021, so Rodgers would have him with the U23s for a short while after those fixtures. We could see him on the bench against Chelsea on November 20th or featuring in the Legia Warsaw fixture on November 25th.

Whatever happens, those who follow our U23 side will get to see him in action again first, then hopefully the crucial player will be reintegrated into the senior first team to help us concede fewer goals.
