Doctor Who star Mandip Gill has addressed her character's future beyond season 13, admitting that it could go either way for Yaz.
Mandip, who plays companion Yasmin Khan, revealed that she doesn't yet know what happens to her character – despite the confirmed exit for Jodie Whittaker's Doctor.
Following the premiere of Doctor Who: Flux, which saw the arrival of new TARDIS resident Dan, Mandip told Entertainment Weekly that she "can't confirm" whether season 13 will be the last fans see of Yaz.

"Well, one, I can't confirm it but, two, there's just no rules to this," she said, diplomatically. "Companions do stay on thereafter. We still haven't finished filming these episodes, it could go any which way."
Commending Who fans for embracing the varied fates of previous companions, the actress added: "The audience are really good at going, 'Oh, it's a whole new cast and new companions' and they're onboard with that.
"And they're also amazing at going, 'Oh yeah, that's a companion from the last Doctor, that also makes sense.' So, who knows?"

In a telling comment, Mandip also paid tribute to her time on the series since joining the show back in 2018. "Just know that I've had the most amazing time," she said, hinting that her journey may be coming to an end after all.
Speaking of the Doctor's companions, Digital Spy has examined the evidence that Billie Piper's Rose Tyler could soon make a return, following Flux's opening episode, 'The Halloween Apocalypse'.
