Davis claims victory; Titus won't concede

At his campaign headquarters Tuesday night, Republican Erie County Executive nominee Brenton Davis claimed victory.

Reporter Matthew Rink spoke with him there.

"We know due to the math that a win is not possible for (Tyler) Titus," he said. "We're waiting for a call from the Titus campaign to see how they want to proceed."

"Surprisingly, I've just been at peace," he said about the culmination of an 11-month campaign. "I've been calm. Everything went as planned, almost verbatim of how we thought this was going to play out, it did. We kind of expected a 5-point victory and it seems we're still in that realm."

"It's been surreal. It's the culmination of many years of hard work coming down to one event. It's humbling to see 32,000 people say that you're the person to lead us into the next generation."

His challenger, Tyler Titus, was not ready to concede.

"We are going to wait for all the ballots to be counted," said Titus campaign manager Josh Rosenbaum in a telephone interview.

"Every Erie County voter deserves to have their vote counted. That process will be completed tomorrow. As soon as it does, we will hear from Tyler."

Davis takes the lead

With 147 of 149 precincts reporting, Republican county executive nominee Brenton Davis turned the tables on Tyler Titus' early mail-in-driven lead.

Reminder that 4,354 uncanvassed ballots to be counted Wednesday will alter these totals.
