BRITISH COLUMBIA—Is there anything more terrifying than orcas on the hunt? As this article reminds us, sea creatures will go to great lengths to escape these voracious and tenacious predators.
The problem is that orcas will go to even greater lengths to snatch their prey. For exhibit A of this argument, check out this video:
Why are these orcas lying around on the beach in British Columbia? Family outing, perhaps?
Nope. These orcas were chasing seals at low tide. Although the pursuit placed the orcas in danger, they plowed ahead with reckless abandon. Then again, I guess it wasn't so reckless after all. According to the video's caption, the orcas simply waited in the open air until the tide rose, then swam off to catch some more seals.
Isn't nature amazing? These orcas were able to survive a beaching incident that would've been catastrophic to many other species.
