However, in the closing laps at Martinsville Speedway the two drivers found themselves battling for 2nd. Keselowski was beating on the rear bumper of Busch and looking for the spot.

Keselowski was one of the eight drivers in the championship battle. However, he sat under the cutline and needed a win to advance and Busch was in the same position.

Off turn four for the final time, Keselowski tagged the left rear of Busch. That forced the No. 18 to brush the outside wall.

Busch was able to hold the 2nd position. However, both drivers were eliminated from the championship race.

Directly after the checkered flag, upon reaching turn one on the cool down lap, Busch and Keselowski made more contact. Busch turned left into Keselowski’s right front, the No. 18 slid across the curb.

Moments later, Denny Hamlin also retaliated in a post-race altercation. In that case, Hamlin met race winner Alex Bowman on the front stretch. Hamlin did burnouts while locked nose to nose and flipping him a double bird after the race.

Kyle Busch comments on Brad Keselowski

“He drills my ass coming out of four, for no reason,” Kyle Busch stated to Dustin Long in a video after the race.

“I mean, where was he going? What was he going to do, spin me out? He was trying to do a Harvick is what he was trying to do.”

“For what? For 2nd place? To do what? He wasn’t going to transfer through with that.

“It’s frickin’ retarded, man, and so stupid. I don’t understand these guys. I should beat the shit out of him right now is what I should do, but that doesn’t do me any good either.”

Busch added, “I’ve already had to pay enough fines in my lifetime, I’m sure I’ll get another one [if I beat the shit out of him].”

Kyle Busch was fined $50,000 just a month ago after cutting through cones while driving his wrecked car to the garage area.

Kyle Busch issues an apology

Busch noted a possible fine for a physical altercation. However, a more likely fine might come from the post race interview.

NASCAR has strict rules in regards to the r-word used. Use of the word could result in a fine and/or indefinite suspension, or termination per the rule book

12.8.1.e: “Public statement and/or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.”

Since the video, Kyle Busch has issued an apology via twitter.

Busch tweeted, “In one of my post-race interviews I used a word I should never use and I want to apologize for it.”

Brad Keselowski responds

“I don’t know what he was thinking. He was mad at something, mad at himself or mad at me,” Keselowski responded to Long.

Later, Keselowski was made aware of Busch’s comments after the race. He commented via twitter:

“Since some people are copying me on social media with other’s comments I’ll say this in response-I used to get mad when people said mean things about me and respond out of anger. Now I just feel bad for them. For their family’s sake, I have no desire to go any deeper than that.”

Any potential penalty for Kyle Busch would be announced on Tuesday with the weekly penalty report from NASCAR.
