The Pittsburgh Steelers look likely to use a 2022 draft pick on a quarterback to replace Ben Roethlisberger. Liberty’s Malik Willis could be the guy.

Few teams should be watching the 2021 college football season more closely than the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With Ben Roethlisberger looking like he’s at the end of the road, they’ll need to draft his replacement sooner than later.

Malik Willis is delivering an impressive audition tape for Liberty undoubtedly forcing Steelers scouts to take notice.

With Willis dropping dimes like that, he’s increasingly garnering buzz as a potential first-round draft pick. He could even be the first passer off the board.

The Steelers should keep an eye on Malik Willis for the 2022 NFL Draft

Willis has 1,679 yards passing in eight games this season. He’s thrown 17 touchdowns and six interceptions.

He’s not perfect, throwing three interceptions in two of his last three games, including a loss to Louisiana-Monroe. Nor does he play the stiffest competition with Liberty’s independent schedule. Still, he has the arm talent to catch the eye of NFL scouts who see a ton of potential in his arm and legs.

Willis’ running ability is just another dimension he can bring to the table. He has 647 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground this season.

There are several intriguing options in the upcoming draft at quarterback. The Steelers might not have the opportunity to pick the first quarterback out there, so they should keep an eye on a wide range of signal-callers from Willis to Kenny Pickett and beyond.
