Stamp Fairtex has another big fight lined up.

The former ONE Championship Muay Thai and kickboxing titleholder put together a commanding three-round performance against Julia Mezabarba in the MMA main event of the ONE: NextGen event Friday in Singapore. Stamp’s win advanced her to the finals of the atomweight grand prix tournament, which will determine a No. 1 contender for the promotion’s 115-pound title.

As expected, Stamp controlled much of the action with her striking, though she showed off a well-rounded game in Round 2 when she surprised Mezabarba with a reversal on the ground. Stamp was declared the winner by unanimous decision after three rounds.

Facing Stamp (7-1 in MMA) in the finals will be Ritu Phogat, who defeated Jenelyn Olsim by unanimous decision in the event’s other grand prix semifinal. Though Olsim was able to utilize her grappling skills and threaten with multiple triangle choke and armbar attempts, it was Phogat’s ground-and-pound over 15 minutes of action that made the most impact. Now 7-1 in the sport, Phogat is one win away from a shot at the belt.

In a battle of undefeated heavyweight talents, Kirill Grishenko showed versatility against Dustin Joynson, smashing him from top position in Round 1 and attacking with a rear-naked choke. He also landed several spinning attacks on the feet in the opening stanza but Joynson simply refused to go down. Joynson had a better third round, but still not enough to turn the fight in his favor as all three judges scored the victory for Grishenko.

The first MMA bout of the card saw Jeremy Miado avenge a 2019 knockout loss to Miao Li Tao with a TKO just under a minute into the second round. Tao complained to referee Justin Brown that he had been poked in the eye, but Brown immediately called the strike “legal,” saying it was a punch, not a poke in the eye. Tao stopped fighting back, with Miado landing 18 punches over the next 10 seconds to force the referee to call off the fight.
